My first draft magazine and original photos- Evaluation part one

I added more colour to the front cover to pull in readers to make it stand out from other competitive music magazines. I still have my pull quote as readers feel they will be the only ones to recieve the interview making them feel like they are part of an exclusive group.

This was another one of my attempts at a contents page. I liked the strong bold colours as they stood out however I did not like the editorial as the font and colours looked unproffesional and out of place. I liked my title as the layering works nicely to give a clear housestyle and recognisable image/logo.

This was my second draft for my contents page. The reasons that I did not go with this style was because of the complexity. Many of the contents pages I viewed during my research used a simple font and limited the colour scheme whilst using a white background. This makes the contents easier to navigate around.

I dismissed this contents page as I found it looked unproffesional and did not directly pull the audience to one part of the page as a good contents page should. It became too unorganised and had no clear structure. It also lacked a strong house style. The elements that I do like from this page and developed are the date and website address displayed in the top corner. I also think that using an editorial is a useful technique as it gives the magazine an official feel.

I have edited my double page spread as I found spelling mistakes. I changed the title from "April Smith" to a quote "I just can't wait to see the reactions," and moved her name over her picture as I found that NME and Q used this tecnique as a quote works a pull line. I edited the comment in the corner to "April shares a moment with the camera" and used the bottom of the picture page to give extra information about April. The bottom right corner adds information about her tour which is used in music magazines so readers can discover where the singer is next playing.

This was my original front cover design after editing the photograph to remove the camera spots caused by bad shooting conditions and removing the logo from the balloon I decided that the photograph was not subtible for the front cover as it did not make the genre of the magazine clear. The image was also to dark and did not capture the right audience as it looked as if it should be part of a fashion editorial.
